Open Letter to Bush from Michael Moore

Friday, September 2nd, 2005

Dear Mr. Bush:

Any idea where all our helicopters are? It's Day 5 of Hurricane Katrina and thousands remain stranded in New Orleans and need to be airlifted. Where on earth could you have misplaced all our military choppers? Do you need help finding them? I once lost my car in a Sears parking lot. Man, was that a drag.

Also, any idea where all our national guard soldiers are? We could really use them right now for the type of thing they signed up to do like helping with national disasters. How come they weren't there to begin with?

Last Thursday I was in south Florida and sat outside while the eye of Hurricane Katrina passed over my head. It was only a Category 1 then but it was pretty nasty. Eleven people died and, as of today, there were still homes without power. That night the weatherman said this storm was on its way to New Orleans. That was Thursday! Did anybody tell you? I know you didn't want to interrupt your vacation and I know how you don't like to get bad news. Plus, you had fundraisers to go to and mothers of dead soldiers to ignore and smear. You sure showed her!

I especially like how, the day after the hurricane, instead of flying to Louisiana, you flew to San Diego to party with your business peeps. Don't let people criticize you for this — after all, the hurricane was over and what the heck could you do, put your finger in the dike?

And don't listen to those who, in...

Our Government has Failed New Orlineans

This is not a recrimination about how the levvy's should have been built stronger (they should have) or how Army Corpe of Engineers' budget should not have been cut (it should not hae been)./ This post is about people clinging to rooftops 4 days after the flood waters began pouring in. This post is about how the government has not saved those people and about how the government should have provided evacuation resources BEFORE the floods, or immediately after the Levvy broke.

Why did the government wait 3 days before dropping sandbags into the breach?
Where are the swift boats to save the people clinging to roofs?
Why has it taken so long for military and national guard to reach the streets of New Orleans?
Why isn't the government dropping rations and water from aircraft to the poeple stranded around the city?
How come there is no good plan for what to do with 1.3 million displaced people (as recently as last year a prediction of the exact scenario was made!0

George Bush and his administration should be removed. The blood of thousands of American's is on their hands. People are dying every day now because the government did not act quick enough. Because the government was not prepared.

Americans must demand accountability. American's must demand action.
Call into local radio shows and write letters to the eeditors of your local papers, call and write your senator's and congressman. We should be ashamed of our...

New Orleans Relief

I have a bunch of friends who evacuated New Orlkeans over last weekend. I will comment more about the government's pathetic response to the tragedy unfolding in the Gulf States in another post, but here i want to just highlight http://www.scooter-relief.org a site that my club has set up to help get resources to our clubmates and other New Orlineans in exile.
<img src="http://www.scooter-relief.org/themes/box_grey/scootreliefbanner2.jpg" width="400"...
