Heavy Metal Jacket

<p>As some of you know, I am pretty fascinated with teh things you can do with shipping containers. I myself have one that is used for storage. I would love to mae a minimalist cabine with a few somewhere in the woods. Perhaps a combination [gh:node/266|cob house] shipping container house… Anyway, last week's NYT ran a story about some [l:http://www.nytimes.com/2005/12/01/garden/01kalkin.html?ex=1134277200&en=da073748ad2bd5fb&ei=5070|highly designed shipping container structures]</p>
<p><cite>Mr. Kalkin has used the container as a centerpiece in a broad spectrum of projects that include affordable housing, refugee shelters, performance pieces, movies and Web sites.</cite></p>
<p>The featured piece is concept and art, nothing practical, but some other workls of the architect, Adam Kalkin, include a community center in Russia, refugee housing designs and private residences–all made with shipping containers.</p>
